Rahims in Oz
Fatty, show Daddy these pics too k? Love, lil one

Just a quick photo blog on my recent break in Perth.
Before I continue, my apologies to friends and clients who tried calling me when I was away, my Malaysian mobile was turned off for the duration of the trip as I was using the Oz line. My bad, my bad.
And what was the nutty one up to for 2 whole weeks down under?
It was basically a trip to catch up with my brothers and their family as well as some friends, spent buddy time with one of my best bud from the ‘monyet’ bunch, Khalinah. It was great to be seeing them again
I think this was the first time I’ve ever done a jumping self-portrait. Siao.
It wasn’t all sloth and no work, I did a few shoots during my trip as well, so that kept me on my toes
Will be posting up those pics in a separate blog post sometime next week.
Took some pictures for the ‘Urban Feet’ series….
…shot a portrait session at an awesome vacant warehouse in Freo. Didn’t manage to get inside but the facade was bee-yoo-ti-fool.
….went to the Freo Art Gallery and saw an interesting photo exhibition by Marian Drew. The exhibition featured shots of assorted roadkill in surreal settings..
…my brother Adam exhibited his ‘roadkill pose’ too. He calls it ‘Death by Art’ :p
And did I mention that I ate a lot too? Managed to gain some weight within the 2 weeks. Yay!
Click on the slideshow below for more snapshots from the trip
It starts off with about 30 shots for the Urban Feet Series and continues on with snapshots of various locations, friends and family in Perth.
2 weeks was just nice for me to recharge myself. When I got back to KL on Monday and drove around town enduring the traffic jam and hostile drivers, I thought to myself, “Ahhhh…home sweet home!”.
Currently attending the Charge Up! Conference organised by LiveWire Media. The photography workshop is helmed by Louis Pang and its a 3-day workshop on creative photography.
Will blog more about that at a later date ![]()
Nate & Terri, you are both absolutely awesome and I love the chemistry between the two of you. You sooo lied when you said that you can’t pose for the camera cos I reckon that you both sizzled things up quite a fair bit
Didn’t know whether or not I should post up the BJ pic cause well, not everyone’s as open as you are :p I’ll leave that for your personal enjoyment. Hehehe…
It was an absolute pleasure to hang out with you both and I am so looking forward to your wedding in July. Thanks for brunch btw and see you soon!

The following shot was taken at Ikea with a weekend crowd looking on. Nate & Terri were really accommodating even though they got some stares out of it. Hehe..thank you so much for just giving it a go. Love ya both for that
The picture below is my favourite shot from the session.
Not because I reckon the composition was special, it was just a straight forward shot but I love the fact that this was totally ‘un-posed’. Nate just gave Terri a kiss. Straight and simple. Awwww…young love.

Errr…I think I might have overstayed my welcome….

Btw, some might be wondering why are there so many similar shots (only with diff background) throughout this session. Well, there’s a reason for it and maybe I’ll tell you next time…..or maybe not ;p.
Have an awesome Sunday!
Was excited to shoot the family again as lil Max is now 9 months plus.
I find it somewhat surreal to be shooting him cause I shot Sim & See Ming when she was pregnant with him, then when he was 11 days old and again when he was about 5 months or so (eeps. I don’t have those pics online. will post it up when I get back to KL).
Seeing these different phases of lil Max makes me realise just how precious life is and also what a big commitment it is to be a parent. At the same time, seeing how happy Sim and See Ming are with lil Max and how loving the family is makes it evident that having a child is absolutely rewarding in its own way.
Okay, enough of my emo-ing. Let’s move on to some of my favourite pictures from that day.
Here’s Sim and See Ming together with lil Max.
Look at how cute Max is! I felt like pinching his cheeks throughout the whole photo session and you should see his thighs! They looked sooooo chewable! Hmm…I better stop talking before I start sounding cannibalistic :p
“Waddya mean saliva’s not sexy?”

I love lil Max’s expression here. Made me laugh out loud when I saw it initially. It’s as if he’s gong, “Mommy, I don’t wanna pose anymoreeee”. LOL!

“Oi! I said I don’t wanna pose anymore!”

“Ahhhh, maybe all I needed was just to get my butt nekkid. Dayum, bare naked bum on bedsheet feels gooooooddddd”.

Sim, See Ming and Max thanks again for inviting me over to shoot you guys, I had fun! Will give you a call once the pics are ready
And thanks for breakfast and the New Malaysian Essays book. I love getting books. Wheeeeee!
Peter contacted me in early March about a family portraiture session that he wanted to organise as a gift for his Mum’s 60th birthday. Coincidentally, the shoot was held on my birthday April 2nd
I met up with Peter & his family on that sunny morning at Rimba Kiara Park in Taman Tun and we spent about an hour at the park shooting some relaxed family portraits before heading over to the Curve where they decided to have brunch.
Peter’s mum was a blast to shoot. She is one of the easiest model I’ve shot with - everytime my shutter clicked, she would change her pose slightly without needing any cues.
On top of that, she had absolutely no qualms about posing in public
I absolutely love that confidence in her!
When I told Mrs Tan how fun it was to shoot her since she was so open about taking pictures in public, she told me that she doesn’t mind cause the ultimate objective is for her pictures to look nice.
Ahhhh, she’s a woman after my heart
I had fun throughout the family portrait session and I hope you all did too. See you again soon!
On March 28, I flew over to Langkawi to cover Adam and Yvonne’s big weekend.
A weekend that took months of (long distance!) planning and a weekend that was going to be the start of Adam and Yvonne’s new life together as husband and wife.
With the assistance of wedding planner Eileen from Nupts & Such, Adam and Yvonne’s big day was kicked off with a tiny pre-celebration barbecue at The Frangipani Resort a day before the wedding.
The company was great, the food was scrumptious and the weather? Absolutely gorgeous!
Somebody up there must really like Adam and Yvonne for they were rewarded with an awesome sunset the night of the barbecue dinner. It was the most beautiful sunset I’ve seen sofar (in 2008 that is ;p)

The following day, preparations for the beach ceremony began around 3pm when both Yvonne and Adam got ready in separate rooms over at The Andaman.
The weather was slightly overcast and we were a bit worried that it was going to rain during the beach ceremony. Luckily for us, the weather held and while it was a tad bit humid, the ceremony went as planned and Adam & Yvonne became lawfully wedded
I love, love, love the way they’re looking at each other in this picture. Just makes me go “Awwwww….” (oh don’t mind me, I like emo-ing once in awhile ;p).
After the beach ceremony, there was a short tea ceremony as Yvonne’s mum is half Chinese. This was followed by cocktail near the beach before guests adjourned to the ballroom for the dinner reception.
Oftentimes, wedding receptions turn out to be huuuugeeeee affairs where the newlyweds hardly know half the people who have attended their reception.
But in Adam and Yvonne’s case, they chose to have an intimate wedding and invited their family members and close friends. I love shooting weddings like these as it’s great to see the bride and groom having the time to really catch up with their family and friends and having fun while doing it.
And boy oh boy, did Adam and Yvonne have fun.
They both burned the dance floor up after cutting their wedding cake and I must salute them for having the energy to go on and on and on and on….oh, you get my drift
It was absolutely fun to shoot the newlyweds and their friends and family’s antics on the dance floor. While the lighting drove me nuts initially, I started having fun shooting under those extreme lighting conditions after the first few shots.
One of my fave is the one below where Adam’s Dad is having a good laugh while dancing away
Some of my other favourite shots can be viewed in the slideshow below. Just click on ‘play’ and wait for a lil while as the pictures load.
Yvonne and Adam, thanks again for having me be part of your special day
Yes, I was there as a photographer of your wedding but at the same time, you made me feel like a guest with your hospitality. I really appreciate that.
Hope you enjoyed your awesome honeymoon and here’s wishing you two a happy and prosperous life together.
Keep in touch and take care!
Besides weddings and portraiture, I also shoot events occasionally.
One of the recent events that I shot was for Celebrity Fitness. The gym celebrated the first year anniversary of their Bangsar Village outlet March 27 with local celebrities, media and other VIPs. I had the opportunity to help out with the shoot during the event.
Click on the slideshow below to check out some of the shots from that day.
Cheerio!
Woot! Here’s to your new life together - may there be many laughter and joy ahead.
A grand entrance with bagpipes! That was a first for me. Heh.

Luth & Marini greeting some of their guests.

Hawa & Camelia, respective sisters of Luth & Marini, both went up on stage to serenade the couple….
