Gone To The Birds
I’ve been so, so busy the past week that my sleeping hours have gone haywire. Been working till 5 am, 6 am, 7 am and sleeping till noon. Yes, you can call me Batman.
Have been busy editing pics and doing layouts for the weddings that I shot in December and I’ve also been meeting up with soon-to-be married couples as well as working with a few corporate clients on misc projects.
And you know what, I’m happy
Though I’m bloody tired at times, I’m happy. Sounds crazy doesn’t it? Hah!
Anyway, I decided to take a break last Saturday and guess what I did?
I went out taking pictures. Heheehehe…
Young Brian and I decided to go to the KL Bird Park as we’ve never been there before. Entry for locals was RM15 and for foreigner’s it was RM35.
Thanks to Brian looking like a lost Korean, the counter lady asked for our IC to verify that we’re locals.Tiu -_-
It’s been yonks since I last went to a park like this. Had thought that I would be bored with it.
Throughout the 2.5 hours we spent there, I was pleasantly surprised to realise that I was enjoying myself - checking out the birds, taking macro pics of the insects, walking around the park harassing the peacocks that were roaming free, accidently stepping on poo (what kinda bird’s shit is that big?!?).
When I saw this particular bird, I said outloud “Awwww, shoooo cuteeeee!”.
The thing is, I didn’t realise there was a couple behind me at that point in time.
Not surprisingly, they backed out slowly away from me and continued their walk around the park. Ok…..
A couple of minutes later, I walked over to the eagles enclosure. I think they had just been fed cause most of them were just sitting around with a glazed “I’m stuffed” expression on their faces.
I tried to catch their attention by making noises and even went to the extent of going, “ca-caw, ca-caw!” out loud.
In hindsight, I must’ve looked like a crazed woman to the passersby.
For fellow photographers, all the pictures in this blog post were shot with the 100mm, f2.8 macro lens. I’ve only used that lens a couple of times, briefly shooting wedding rings during my past few wedding shoots.
This was the first time that I had the opportunity to really use the lens and I must say, I’m reconsidering my initial decision of selling it off
I’m used to shooting people - the interaction, the feedback, the camaraderie I get from those kinda shoots liven things up for me.
It was a nice respite to shoot inanimate objects. One thing though - I couldn’t help but talk to them when I was shooting them. And when I say ‘them’ I mean the flowers and leaves :p
Old habits die hard yo.
Damn. I still can’t believe that I enjoyed shooting flowers. Eeeyerrrr. So girlie :p
Ok, ok. Enough of birds and flowers. Gotta get back to work now.
