Deviana & Herman

I’ve known Deviana for yonks. She’s my sister’s childhood friend and when she got married recently, I was honoured to be part of her and Herman’s big day :)

Their solemnisation and lunch reception was held at home with family and close friends attending the celebrations. There was plenty of laughter going around as fun was to be had with karaoke sessions by Devi’s grandma and dance performances by Devi’s sister and her friends.

Devi and Herman, here’s wishing you a blessed life together and yes, I’ll be going back to KK month end so I’ll give you a buzz then :D In the meantime, here are a few of my favourite shots from the day.

See you soon!

The ‘hantaran’ (gifts) trays were all decorated by Devi. She does this on a part-time basis and her work is beautiful! If you’re interested in getting someone to decorate your gift trays for you, drop Devi an email.

I had the shock of my life when the confetti popped during the cake cutting :p I think Herman and Devi were caught by surprise too! Hehe…

Devi’s grandma is super sporting! She was dancing and singing away throughout the reception. Awesome!

Yes this shot of Herman and Devi has been shown in a previous post. But this is a slightly different, muted edit :)

My Best Friend’s Wedding :)

Before I begin, I would just like to explain that photos in this set were watermarked quite extensively as I found out that some personal shots were ’stolen’ from Facebook and used on another website under another person’s name. Whoever this person is, appreciate if you can respect a photographers rights and give credit where its due.

Okay, having gotten the above off my chest, let us continue on with our regular programming :)

Intan and Rudy met during my quarter century birthday party and from thereon, sparks flew.

While it was subtle initially, I could already tell they had something for each other. Come to think of it, since he asked me about her AND she asked me about him, it was rather obvious to me ;p

They’ve been through many ups and downs and I know it hasn’t been easy to get to where they are today. I still remember the moment when I found out from Intan that Rudy had proposed to her at Niagara Falls. I was absolutely ecstatic!

Rudy, on behalf of the rest of the monkeys, thank you. Thank you for loving Intan the way you do, thank you for making her the happiest I’ve ever seen her be. But if I ever see her unhappy, you better watch out cos a certain somebody’s ‘muskels’ are gonna squash you. Heheheh…I kid, I kid.

And Intan, we’ve been friends for yonks and I’ve got no regrets at all about all the stuff that we’ve gone through (yes, even the times when we didn’t speak to each other for a whole year! hahahahah). Even though you’re now somebody’s wife, you’ll always be our best friend.

Take care of each other and I wish upon you both happiness,  success, love and tons of fun! Oh, and lets not forget great sex too :p

And about the speech that you want me to do later during your dinner reception later, let me warn you that I’ll either end up swearing like a sailor or bawling like a baby :p Talking about that, I haven’t prepared the speech yet. Eeeks! See you newlyweds later :)

Love, Anna.

The solemnisation ceremony was held at Intan’s parents house back in Kota Kinabalu. Here’s some of my favourite shots from the day.

Disclaimer: We were mocking kawaii poses!! We don’t do this all the time!! *shy* :p Heheh…’The Monyets’ shot by Carliff. Ta!

After the solemnisation ceremony, we headed off to Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort, where we took some casual portraits with Rudy’s family and also the newlyweds :)

Congratulations again Intan and Rudy :)

Jullian & Marie Weds

Jullian and Marie were married last weekend and I had the pleasure of being part of their special day! It’s been three months since I last shot Jullian and Marie’s casual portraits in Kota Kinabalu and flying over to Miri to shoot their wedding was icing on top of the cake.

They first met when Marie was working in San Francisco Coffee in Miri. Apparently, Jullian frequented the place over and over just to see Marie to the point where he finally managed to get her number. And from thereon, love blossomed :)

With Marie being based in KK and Jullian in Miri, their long distance relationship endured on thanks to frequent calls and trips (thank goodness for budget airlines :p).

I now present to you, some pics from Mr & Mrs Jullian A. Sultan wedding :)

The glowing bride :)

How many persons does it take to fit the rings into the ring cushion? ;p Hehe…

Here comes the bride!

The venue of the dinner reception, Park City Everly Hotel

Ian, one of Jullian’s bestfriend and also the person who introduced me to the couple, was the emcee for the night. Thanks for the referral Ian!

Congratulations again you two! Thank you so much for flying me over to capture the event for you. Can’t wait for the KK reception next week! See ya :D

More pictures from the church ceremony in the slideshow. Enjoy!

Hans & Jaclyn Weds

I’ve been anticipating Hans and Jaclyn’s wedding for nearly a whole year! They booked me back in December ‘07 and the first time I met them was when we had a casual portraiture session in Kota Kinabalu.

Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of keeping in touch with both of them as they planned for their wedding and we also met up on one of their trips to KL.

So, the day came and everything was absolutely perfect. The weather was gorgeous, the setting exquisite. With friends and family around, Hans and Jaclyn had the time of their lives.

Hans and Jaclyn, I truly had fun shooting your wedding for it was apparent to me (and I believe everyone else too :D) that you two enjoyed yourself.  And thank you for your hospitality during your dinner receptions, I had a very happy tummy on both nights and great company at the tables I was seated at :D Wheeeee!

Ok, before I continue raving on about your wedding, let’s move on to the pictures! Here are some of my fave shots from the day. And do check out the slideshow at the end of the post for more pictures from the church ceremony :)

Bling it on ;p

The bride

The groom and his best friends

The church ceremony was held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Kota Kinabalu

After the ceremony, we took some quick portraits and I love this particular one :)

That night, a dinner reception was held for Jaclyn’s side at The Pacific Sutera. Before they headed down to the ballroom, I took some portraits of the newlyweds in their room.

And they had Moo cards, with pictures from our last year’s portrait session, made as thank you notes :)

Loved Jaclyn’s comfy dress!

The night was filled with performances as Jaclyn’s side of the family are extremely talented - singing and dancing is norm for them and boy oh boy, did they get it on that night ;)

A week later, a dinner reception for Hans’ side of the family was held at The Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort. Luckily for me, we managed to get some portrait shots outdoor before the sunset :)

Hans’ uncle and aunt. I actually met them in the morning of the same day as I was shooting my best friend’s solemnisation ceremony (she’s also his niece. haha! yes, KK’s that small) before heading over to STAR for Hans and Jaclyn’s reception. When he saw me that night, first thing he said was, “Aren’t you tired?!”. LOL!!

These two kids were adorable! They were initially on the dancefloor, imitating the older ones’ dancing but I think they were knackered after awhile and decided to take a break ;p

Jaclyn’s aunts ‘taking advantage’ of the latest addition in the family. Hehe…

More pictures from the church ceremony. Just click on play and while waiting for the pictures to load, go grab a cuppa coffee ;p

Hans and Jaclyn, it was an absolute honour for me to be part of your special day.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with so many great couples ever since I started wedding photography and you two definitely are one of those couples who remind me how blessed I am to be doing what I’m doing (Ishh. I’m so cliche aren’t I? Must be the combination of jazz music, late night and lack of sleep talking. Hehe…)

See you both next week :D

Dennis & Irene Weds

Dennis and Irene’s wedding was a full day affair - starting off with a tea ceremony at the bride’s house, moving on to the church ceremony at Skyline in Magellan, the groom’s tea ceremony and ending with a grand dinner reception at the same hotel.

It was a day filled with laughter, reunions and best wishes amongst their family and friends. And the reception was huuuuuugeee with a capital H!

They had more than 1,000 guests attending the dinner and they spent slightly more than an hour just greeting guests at the entrance to the banquet. Hats off to that!

Dennis and Irene, thank you for having me be part of your big day. It was indeed a pleasure to be part of the celebrations and to also meet your family members (so many kids!). See you both soon back in Kota Kinabalu!

And Doris, it was nice to meet you that day! Hope you had a good experience practising your photography skills throughout the wedding. Happy belated birthday :)

Pat & Ea Wei’s KK Reception

I shot Pat and Ea Wei’s ROM recently as well as their church ceremony and dinner reception in Kuala Lumpur. So I already knew what I was up for when they invited me to Kota Kinabalu to shoot their wedding reception there :)

Though it rained throughout the entire weekend, the wet weather did not dampen the newlywed’s spirits at all. Instead they partied on and made the best of it.

Pat and Ea Wei, it has been an absolute pleasure to shoot you two, meeting your family and friends, talking about cameras :p (Ea Wei’s a photography enthusiast!) and just feeling like I was shooting a friend’s wedding instead of a client’s.

I’m sure I’ll see you two again, we’re supposed to go for drinks laa. Hehe…

In the meantime, here are a few of my favourite shots from the KK reception. Enjoy :)

Love, love Pat’s smile here :D She looks absolutely gorgeous!

Jules & Wai - Wedding Reception

Joey called me up about three weeks prior to her cousin Jules’ wedding reception and luckily, I was available on that day :) Having never met Jules and Wai beforehand, I was a tad bit nervous. But Jules and Wai were absolutely laid back so I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Woot!

Their wedding reception was held at the Sunway Hotel and was attended mainly by relatives. It started off with a tea ceremony in one of the function rooms and continued with a Chinese dinner, wrapping up with a fun, fun dance session lead by a guy from Club Med!

Here are some of my fave shots from the evening :)

The tea ceremony

During the dinner reception

Some shots of the guests :)

Loved this lil kid. He was shooting like a pro with his Dad’s camera. Shoooo cuteeeee!

Dance frenzy to wrap up the night!

Jules and Wai, I had fun shooting the reception and I hope you had tons of fun during your honeymoon in Africa and Sabah as well. It was a pleasure to meet you (albeit briefly ;p) and here’s to many, many happy years ahead!

Ibraheem & Neyna - Wedding Reception

Ibraheem and Neyna’s wedding reception was a fun affair!

The reception was held at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort and attended by family and friends of the couple as well as Ibraheem’s  family and best friend from UK.

It was performances galore as traditional local dances were presented and the trannies’ lip synching and wild antics had the couple and their guests laughing throughout dinner.

Some candid shots taken before the reception

Entrance to the ballroom. See the framed pic on the left of the picture? That was from their solemnisation ceremony earlier this year and it’s one of my fave shots too :)

During the ‘merenjis’ ceremony

Theirs was the first wedding that I’ve attended which had performances by trannies! Hey, your photographer looks like a trannie too :p I could’ve doubled as part of the performance as well. Hehehe…

Sweetest of all were the speeches by Ibraheem and Neyna. As manly as I may appear, my so-called-feminine side does come out once in awhile and when Neyna teared during her speech, I followed along.

And Neyna, being the sweetheart that she is, just had to say, “Now my photographer’s crying too!” in the middle of her speech. Waaaa, I damn shy dot com wei *blush*

During their first dance

Towards the end of the night, group shots of Ibraheem and Neyna together with their family and close friends were taken. And boy, I tell you, these people can pout! You can see what a ‘pout fest’ we had from the pictures below :D

Ibraheem and Neyna, you two make an awesome couple and with baby Maya along, a great family. Here’s to a future filled with love and happiness!

See you soon :)

Ea Wei & Patriana - Wedding

A couple of weeks back, Ea Wei and Pat had their wedding ceremony and reception in KL with the church ceremony at the Assumption Church in Petaling Jaya and the dinner reception was held at the Equatorial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. I knew I was in for a good time as I had shot their ROM back in September and they make a great couple to shoot :)

Their church ceremony was attended by family members and close friends. A funny incident happened with the wedding bands, but I’m not at liberty to share what I thought was hilarious in hindsight ;p Ea Wei, if you’re ok with me telling the story, I’ll re-edit this blog post and spill the beans pronto! Hahahahah!

And the dinner reception was absolutely great. The reception area was cosy and the settings were beautiful especially the main table’s centrepiece.

As the night proceeded, Pat’s sister Cassie sang ‘L.O.V.E’ for the newlyweds’ second walk-in, Ea Wei had a ‘fun’ time opening up the champagne bottles, Pat and Ea Wei had what I saw as one of the sweetest first dance I’ve seen after so many weddings (I’m not talking about the choreography, but the emotion which was behind it. Yes, yes. It’s the female emo side of me is writing ;p) and the yum seng sessions were loud.

And when I say loud, I mean LOUD! I think I temporarily lost hearing on one side after going around a few tables shooting them ‘in-action’ ;)

Okay, enough of me yakking on. Most of the pictures are in the slideshow at the bottom of this post but I’ve also posted up some of my faves here :) Enjoy!

Saw the below in Ea Wei’s room. LOL! The irony of it all ;p

Love love their expression here. So happy (abadenn?!?)!

Think this looks loud? This was just the tip of the iceberg ;)

Do check out the slideshow below too! Just click on the button and wait for awhile as the pictures load :)

Ea Wei and Pat, you know what I loved most about you two?

I know this sounds really cliche (I have the right to be! I’m a wedding photographer. Ngeheheehe!), but on the day of your wedding, in a room full of your friends and family, you guys had your private moments when you gave each other ‘the look’.

I don’t know how to explain it, but it was like no one else was around but the two of you and that you two only had eyes for each other. Man, I’m so cheesy that even I can’t stand myself sometimes :p Hehe…

Or perhaps it was just a look which meant ‘Yay! We can do it legally now! :p’ Hehehehe…i kid, i kiiiiiddddd.

Thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of capturing your memories for you. Can’t wait to shoot the one this weekend in KK! See you two very very soon :D

Happy Anniversary :D

Was just sorting out my pictures when I realised that hey, 3 couples whom I shot approximately a year ago will be celebrating their 1st year anniversary!

I still remember shooting their weddings like it was yesterday. Ok, ok. Let’s just say I can remember it as if it was just a couple of months ago ;p

Aaryan and Zanni, your intimate wedding at Carcosa was absolutely memorable. Still remember how the bears (and the BMW emblem!) flew off your friend’s car when you two were driving back after the solemnisation? Haha! That was actually quite funny in hindsight.

Puvan and Kavitha, I am forever grateful to the two of you for inviting me to be part of your gorgeous ceremony. You trusted me and my camera with capturing your ceremony for you even though I had never shot an Indian wedding prior to that ;p So daring arrr youuuu?

Zul & Shakira, I don’t know whether or not I’ve told you this before, but when you two hired me to shoot your wedding in Kulim, the first thing I thought was “What? They’re willing to pay for my flight over there to shoot their wedding?!?”. Hehe. Hope you two are enjoying the first year of marriage :)

To the 3 couples and also the other couples before them, here’s wishing you a very, very happy anniversary and here’s to many more wonderful years to come.

And thank you for having hired me when I was just starting out. Words can’t express how grateful and blessed I feel to have been part of your big day.
